Plano is a city located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area in Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 318,972. It is the most populous city in Dallas County and the ninth most populous city in Texas.

Plano was founded on May 14, 1905 by J.R. Thompson and A.H. Belo as a railroad stop on the Galveston, Houston and San Antonio Railway. The city had an estimated population of 308,109 as of January 1, 2019 according to estimate from the United States Census Bureau

The city is served by the Plano Independent School District and five other school districts: Collin County View Independent School District, Crowley Independent School District, DISD (Dallas), Parker Independent School District and Rowlett Independent School District.

Where to Eat in Plano

Plano is home to plenty of restaurants, so it’s hard to choose just one! Here are five of our favorites.

1. Caffe Fratelli: This coffee shop is always crowded with locals and tourists alike because of the delicious food and atmosphere. They have a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches, salads, and even some Italian classics like lasagna. Plus, they’re open late so you can stay up late and eat some sweets!

2. Sambuca’s Pizzeria: This pizza place has something for everyone- from thin crusts and calzones to Sicilian-style pizza. They also have a wide variety of side dishes like garlic knots, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. The only downside is that they’re not open very late- usually around 10pm or 11pm.

3. Jaleo: If you’re looking for a great Spanish restaurant, look no further than Jaleo! They have all sorts of tapas- from octopus to paella- as well as main dishes like paella and carne asada. They also have a wide variety of wine choices, so you can find something to drink to go with your meal.

4. The Royal Palms Resort: This resort offers a wide variety of buffets, but their all-you-can eat shrimp and sushi buffets are the most popular. They have many other options as well- like ribs, rib tips, chicken, and steak.

5. The Coronado: This hotel’s buffet has all kinds of options you’d expect from a hotel buffet- just without any meat! However, they do include the usual sides such as French fries and pasta salad.

Malls and Centres

If you’re looking for a fun place to spend some time, Plano has plenty of options. Centres like Legacy Park and Prestonwood Shopping Centre offer a variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. If you’re looking for something more family-friendly, try the malls at Legacy West and Legacy East or the Prestonwood Place Shopping Centre. Whatever your interests, there’s sure to be a mall that has what you’re looking for.

Plano also has some great attractions nearby. LEGOLAND Discovery Center is great for kids, while adults can enjoy the rides and shops at The Starplex Pavilion or the numerous nightlife options in downtown Plano. There’s also the Allen Event Center, home to concerts and sporting events, as well as the Dr Pepper Museum of Art. Whether you’re planning on travelling locally or exploring the surrounding area, Plano has something for everyone.
