Places to Eat
Lincoln, England is a city steeped in history and culture. While there are plenty of tourist destinations within the city walls, there are also a number of excellent restaurants that offer something a little different. Here is a list of some of our favourites:
The Roebuck
If you’re looking for an intimate setting with great food, The Roebuck is the place to go. This restaurant has been serving up quality British cuisine since 1825 and remains one of Lincoln’s most popular choices. The atmosphere is classic British pub with warm wood floors and plaster beams overhead. The menu focuses on organic and local ingredients, making for some truly delicious dishes. Highlights include the lamb shank and Yorkshire pudding.
The Butcher’s Arms
If you’re after a hearty meal, The Butcher’s Arms is the perfect spot. This restaurant has been serving up traditional British cuisine for over 100 years and its popularity is evidenced by the long queue that forms outside on weekends. Specialties include succulent beef pies and hearty shepherd’s pie. There’s also an excellent selection of beers on offer, making it the perfect place to celebrate a good meal.
Royal Oak
Royal Oak is a venerable Lincoln institution. For half a century this pub has been serving up great food and drink to a loyal clientele of old locals. Things to Do and See
The Lincolnshire Wolds are a beautiful area of rolling hills, farmland and small villages. It is a great place to explore on foot or by bike, and there are plenty of attractions and places to eat if you get hungry. Here are some of the things you can do in Lincoln:

Getting Around Lincoln
Lincoln is a small city but there are plenty of ways to get around it. The city center is only about 2 miles square and can be walked in a day or two, though it’s easiest to use the buses or trains. If you’re staying longer, the best way to explore Lincoln is by renting a bike or taking a guided walking tour.
Buses and trams run throughout the city center and out into the surrounding neighborhoods, while bicycles can be rented from several spots near the central square. There are also regular bus and train services out to nearby towns and villages. For those with more time on their hands, Lincoln has plenty of attractions close by, including some of England’s most historic cathedrals.
